Introducing Fundraising 101:
A New 15-Week Series

Read time: 3-4 Minutes

I’ve been working on something special for you.

I want to step. up. my. game.

So, Why This Series?

Honestly, I wanted to create the kind of series I wish I’d had years ago. Something that would help me break the mystery of fundraising piece by piece. It would have helped so much!

And like I said, this series was created in response to YOU—the changemaker community—nonprofit founders and leaders who are looking for a structured, step-by-step learning experience—one that feels more like a mini-course than one-off videos.

My hope is that each episode will build on the last. I want to offer practical steps and tutorials – but also add context and insights from subject matter experts – because those things are really important to being a successful changemaker in today’s world.

Episode 1: A Crash Course in Fundraising History

Fundraising has been around for thousands of years—from ancient religious giving traditions to today’s structured nonprofit sector. But how have beliefs about philanthropy impacted our fundraising today?

In Episode 1, I break down:

  • How our society has viewed money & giving throughout history
  • Key moments that shaped modern fundraising
  • What these lessons mean for your nonprofit’s fundraising today

Episode 2 also just posted yesterday, and covers the top ways nonprofits generate revenue!

What’s Next?

In our third episode next week, we’ll explore the nuances of a big question: Can more money really end more social problems? (Dun dun dunnnn… The answer may surprise you!)

Make sure you’re subscribed to the channel so you get notified when new episodes drop.

Introducing: Social Issue Deep Dive Videos Read time: 3-4 Minutes A few newsletters back, I mentioned how I was expanding my YouTube content with a new series on fundraising. But actually, that’s not all. As part of my new Changemaker Cafe content, we’re also going to explore the ins and outs of different social issues together – from homelessness, to food insecurity, and more. I’m starting with the topic of Animal Rescue (something I know is dear to many of your hearts!), but we’ll tackle...

How to delegate with confidenceand empower a team Read time: 3-4 Minutes Trust me, I’ve been there. Running a nonprofit feels like spinning a hundred plates at once. You’ve got fundraising, program management, communications, board meetings… and somehow, you’re also in charge of snacks for the next event. 🥨🧃 Trying to do it all yourself? That’s a fast track to burnout (I’ve been there, too). But something I’ve seen time and time again is that the strongest nonprofits are not built by leaders...

A Beginner’s Guide: Using Social Media to Build Donor Trust Read time: 3-4 Minutes We usually think of social media as just about posting updates. But, it’s one of the most powerful ways to build trust with your donors. (And when donors trust you, they’re more likely to give!) The most effective nonprofits don’t just share what they do; they show how they’re credible, transparent, and making a real impact. In this issue of Changemaker Mondays ☀️ ☕ 🌍, we’re diving into five powerful ways to...
